John Ruskin famously said, ‘I have always held and proposed against all comers to maintain that the Cathedral of Lincoln is out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles’
These Images show work that I did at Lincoln many years ago. Lincoln is the only Cathedral with its own quarry and workshop left and is a valuable resource for any young person to learn every aspect of working stone. The main job is to get it right.
To this day, as evidenced in my commitment to the long term Stone People Project, I fully support Lincoln Cathedrals efforts to maintain this great stone monument and am proud to in some way call this cathedral my foundation my home and my anchor for everything I have done since.
"Once you have learned a trade it can never be taken away. So learn a trade well and don't learn the short cuts until you have finished learning the base of the craft you wish to study." Simeon A. Warren.
